Iain’s First Birthday

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

I’ve ignored updating this blog long enough. Time to post some pictures.

Iain’s first birthday was October 23rd. It is now November 15th. Forgive me, Iain, if and when you ever read this. Your Dad dropped the ball on this one.

Nevertheless, I believe our little Iain’s birthday was a happy one. He got to dive right into his own cake (plenty of pictures below) and got lots of love from his Arizona Grandparents. All photos here.

And some photos from the Arizona weekend

Hunger for God

Sunday, November 4th, 2007
I’m trying out the ‘ clipmarks‘ Firefox addon by posting this. Hopefully it will work as expected.

With all the religious education I’ve received, there is something inside me that says I should be satisfied with all that knowledge, that says I should I have a pretty firm idea about what it is all about, who God is, why I am here, where I am going. But I remain unsatisfied.

I’ve tried to remain satisfied with “knowledge that is not knowledge.” But I remain hungry.

Father Stephen nails it for me today.

We must hunger for God Himself, never anything less. This is why we must know our ignorance. We must not be satisfied with knowledge that is not knowledge. Only true knowledge of God should and can satisfy the true longings of our heart. We who once walked in the cool of the evening with God should not settle for something less (I know the imagery is just that- imagery - but it points to the nature of true knowledge).
