The excuse to visit our old town came in the form of a wedding: Toby and Tonya, our swing-dancing pals, finally tied the knot. Congratulations to you both.
And then we simply enjoyed Vancouver.
A hearty thanks to the Bos clan for hosting us that week. We really appreciated it and enjoyed every minute of it! Aidan certainly had a good time hanging out with y’all. 
The first few photos are of us just hanging out as a family. We went to Malibu beach one day and Aidan was having a lot of fun covering himself in sand (with some help from Dada). We also had a visit from Chad’s parents- they had some good bonding time with Aidan before their long holiday.
We stayed to the bitter end, hoping that Aidan would catch a glimpse of the fireworks before nodding off to sleep. That goal might have been reached had the show been on time… but it was not. He fell asleep and remained so throughout the fireworks. Alas, another year perhaps.
It started off as a great camping trip…
Then something went wrong. Somehow we managed to plan this trip to Malibu canyon on the hottest weekend of the year. A friend’s car thermometer read 115 F. Later we learned that that temperature was only slightly cooler than Death Valley that day. Ugh.
Somehow we managed to continue until early Sunday morning. Then we left.
